Unchanged Deccan decide to bat

 Adam Gilchrist admitted his Deccan Chargers weren't up to the mark in the tournament opener in Mumbai before the toss, and seconds after winning it rather matter-of-factly said he wasn't too concerned. Gilchrist's decision to bat on a pitch that most believed was good for batting appeared the right one, and his unchanged XI will need to be tidier than they were against Kolkata Knight Riders to break a winless streak that extends back to last May.

For their first game of IPL 2010 Chennai, in front of a bustling home crowd, handed former South Africa and ICL allrounder Justin Kemp his IPL debut. They also went in with two offspinners, Muttiah Muralitharan and local boy R Ashwin.

United Nations: Indian cricketing legend Sachin Tendulkar will be making use of his global populartiy to speak for and garner support for the cause of environment as he has been named the new Goodwill Ambassador by the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP).

"I have played and enjoyed my Cricket across the planet. Now it's also time to do something for the planet, which is our only home," Tendulkar said.

Man Of The Match -- Gautam Gambhir

Skipper Gautam Gambhir led Delhi Daredevils to an exciting victory over Kings XI Punjab in an IPL match. The Daredevils beat KXIP by 6 wickets to start their campaign in style.

Earlier, Kings XI Punjab could not face the pace bowling of Delhi Daredevils and could manage just 142/9 in 20 overs. Ravi Bopara was the top scorer with 56. Irfan Pathan made 21. For Daredevils, Nannes and Maharoof took 2 wickets each.

Chasing a victory target of 143, Delhi Daredevils lost Sewhag early, but skipper Gambhir hold the fort on the other end. Gambhir made 72 (54), as Delhi Daredevils reached 146/5 in 19.5 overs.
