IPL Awards 2010- Sachin dominates with best batsman and best captain award

IPL Awards 2010 function, the first ever of its kind, was held in Grand Prix Hyatt, Mumbai on 24th April and Hyatt hosted a galaxy of stars from both film and cricketing fraternity. But one star that shined the most was Sachin Tendulkar, the pole star of the star studded night who picked 3 major awards. The proud owner of the orange cap for the maximum number of runs in the entire series of IPL T 20 season 3 also collected Best Batsman Jury award and Viewers choice award in two categories: Best Batsman and Best Captain. 


The IPL awards ceremony was quite a show with two awards categories one was the Viewer’s Choice Awards and the other the Jury Awards. The Jury members were the top personalities from the cricketing arena such as Sunil Gavaskar, Brian Lara, Umpire Simon Taufel, Javagal Srinath, Lalit Modi and commentator Harsha Bhogle. Not only the awards but the presence of many big Bollywood personalities made the function an evening to remember in the times to come.

IPL Awards 2010 ceremony was hosted by the King Khan, Shah Rukh Khan and writer director Karan Johar. Also present in the evening were movie stars Priyanka Chopra, Hritik Roshan, Shilpa Shetty, Katrina Kaif and music maestro A.R Rehman. The stars also presented dazzling performances to make the event a “Cricketainment” in true sense of the term.

Now to talk about the IPL awards 2010 categories, there were 22 categories in all that included batting, fielding, best commentator, best stadium, most stylish player of the tournament and many more. As mentioned earlier Sachin Tendulkar won 3 awards and among other winner are Robin Uthappa who won the awards for most stylish player of the IPL 2010 tournament, Best debut performance went to Kieron Pollard (MI), best bowler award was bagged by Pragyan Ojha (DC), the award for best dramatic performance went to Harbhajan Singh (MI), the most consistent performance award was grabbed by Jacques Kallis (RCB), best breakthrough performance 2008 was awarded to Brendon McCullum (KKR), best breakthrough performance 2009 went to Anil Kumble ( RCB), best fielder AB Villiers (DD), best ground M Chinnaswamy, Bengluru. Best Stadium Experience went to D Y Patil stadium Navi Mumbai. Best commentator award went to Ravi Shastri.

IPL awards 2010 viewers’ choice category has best catch award which went to David Hussey (KKR), the best batsman and best captain went to Sachin Tendulkar (MI), best bowler award was bagged by Pragyan Ojha (DC), Best commentator went to Ravi Shastri, most stylish player again went to Robin Uthappa (RCB), most fan-friendly cricket award went to Adam Gilchrist (DC) and the best fielder award went to Suresh Raina (CSK).

The other IPL awards 2010 category was the IPL Captains’ Award :The Indian Cricketing Legend I Would Want in my Team which went to none other than Kapil Dev. There were other Statistical Awards and among them were categories for most Economical Bowler which went to Ravichandran Ashwin of Chennai Super Kings.
